An Obsession Named "Anime"

Hello there! It's Mel who's writing this up!

This morning I was so uninspired as to what I could write so until I got a light bulb above my head I decided to finish an anime I started, Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic. I'm writing a review about it which is already up on Dat Little Blog (you know, my other blog on which I actually blog a lot) so you can check it out later if ever you want to.

Which is when the light bulb went *ting* and lighted up. Last month I challenged myself to watch and read as many anime and manga as I could, and I did. Then I realised that, as an aftermath, I actually may be addicted to watching anime and read manga (but more watching than actually reading). And everything led me to this: let's write about this not-so-healthy new obsession of mine.

And this is how, ladies and gentlemen, I'm seated on my desk and typing this. I can get obsessed over something pretty quickly, and animes are no exceptions. But they are not actually a novelty to me. In fact, unbeknownst to myself, I've watched animes since I was 8 or 9, maybe younger. In my glorious childhood years, I watched pretty much everything you could throw to me on TV. That's when my dad made me and my brother (and if I'm not mistaken, my mother too) watch Dragon Ball Z. I've watched a few episodes of Dragon Ball but I was more drawn to the battles present in DBZ. A few years later I also watched pretty much every episode of Dragon Ball GT but now that I think of it, the main reason as to why I watched this series was because I realised how much I loved the action scenes and the fights and the "kamehameha". I also remember watching the live-action movie, which is very forgettable, so no comments about that.

You may think that after watching all the episodes I might have already been bored and moved out to the cartoon section of my life. Fine, I'll not lie. I had a cartoon section in my life that I'm rather proud of, with amazing shows on Cartoon Network. (you know, real cartoons, not some what-the-f shows like Steven Universe, Regular Show or Oncle GrandPa (I'm sorry Cartoon Network is in french at home so I don't know what's the original title to this show) All this to say that, even if I haven't watched a whole lot of animes besides DBZ when I was young, it kind of made a mark (if you can say that) in me and my thirst for action scenes in animes never died away.

Now, time-skip to 2009. 2009 marked the beginning of my anime-loving adventure. It was the year I discovered Naruto Shippuden. I know what you're thinking about, "What about Naruto?" You know, I'm a badass so I skipped it all. :p kidding. Before that I did not know there was a prequel to it, so I was like, anyway. I remember the first episode I've watched was the Sakura and Chiyo vs Sasori battle. Man, it was great. I really, really enjoyed watching this battle, (which by then I found epic) and I think that, even though I did not really understood a lot of things in the storyline, this anime was one that I was going to keep watching. After some months I realised that they were airing Naruto too so I watched all of the episodes and came to understand better the storyline. Of course when I could I did watch other shows that Game One (a french channel) was airing, such as Full Metal Alchemist (that I couldn't really follow so dropped it) and DGray Man (that I really liked but couldn't watch more than one arc because school was in the way) but Naruto and Naruto Shippuden stayed my favourite for a long time.

Forward to 2011. What happened in 2011? Nothing special, I was in Form 4 and I was doing science subjects and I still couldn't bring myself to like physics. Oh, 2011 marked the year where I discovered the young-adult genre and where I read a little more french compared to 2010 (the year I read vampire and supernatural books every single time. I also discovered ebooks in .jar format so yay me). But, concerning my anime adventure, it was in 2011 that I started watching Fairy Tail. It was the first time I was watching an anime "on my own" (meaning that my dad didn't switch the channel or discover it or anything). Fairy Tail was my own blessing. And I loved every single freaking episode.

But it was until last year that Naruto Shippuden and Fairy Tail were the only animes I watched. I mean, I still wasn't acquainted with streaming sites and Game of Thrones started to become a big thing in my life -even though I watched only the first season and never watched more than the first 4 episodes of season two, but I'll go back to it eventually. One day.- so I wasn't, or more I didn't really know more about other shows.

And that's when Youtube comes in! I remember my brother making me watch those top anime battles videos, and it was then that everything changed. Or more like, my anime adventure took a new turn.

The first anime I've watched from these videos was Kill la Kill. And while that, now that I go back to it, it was pretty weird, the first time round I found it fascinating and amazing and funny and full of action and plot twists. And it was actually Kill la Kill that triggered my thirst for more. From then I've watched Madoka Magica, Blue Exorcist, Strike the Blood, and more recently Kekkai Sensen and Owari no Seraph to name a few. [I also made a list of everything I've watched, if you're interested click here!]

So yea. My anime adventure is a very slow and gradual one, but I love being on this ride. [I also post reviews on Dat Little Blog so I'll be very happy if you can check out some of my reviews! I'm also new about this reviewing stuff, so please bear with me!] Also, I don't think that I'll stop anytime soon because each time you have new exciting releases so... It always encourages you to watch more and more of this drug.

And... that was it for today's post! Do you have an obsession? Or rather, many obsessions? Do you watch anime? I'll love to know it all, so comment down below!

Mel's Song of the Week (#2)

Well hello thereeeee!

About last week I'm really sorry. I've been meaning to post something and even started typing it but once I've saved it under "drafts" I completely forgot about it. But don't worry, I'm going to post it this week, I promise!

Now about my song of the week.

I was going to babble about one of the songs I've been listening to since the beginning of this week, but then I discovered another song yesterday, and it seems like I can't get it off my mind. Not that I haven't tried, mind you. But it seems that the epicness of this song has gotten into me, and well, I cannot do anything but comply.

If you are wondering, yes, it's another song from a soundtrack album. "When is she going to talk about a normal song?", you must be surely asking yourself. Soon. Don't worry. But... not now.

Now to the actual song, here it is!
It's L'Arabesque:Sindria by Shiro Sagisu. This amazing song can be heard in the anime Magi: The Kingdom of Magic and Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic. Or only the second one. I forgot about that.

But the thing is, this song is pretty amazing. It's badass and epic and so cool...

So that is it for today! I hope you'll have a great week!

Mel's Song of the Week

Hello peeps! I think by the title you already know who's writing this ;) This weekly (or monthly or whatever you can call it) meme is something I've decided to host here on this blog (meaning you won't see it on my other blog).

Why Am I Holding This?
I love music. And it's not much of a bragging right but I listen to a lot of genres,  so you can say that my music range is diversified. Pop, rock, classic, indian, dance... You name it. So I thought that it would be a good idea to share my favourite song of the moment with you guys, as often as possible :)

For this first post I'll talk about the OST of Nanatsu no Taizai (I talked about it on my blog here so go check it out if you're interested). Long short story, Nanatsu no Taizai is an anime I watched last week and adored, and from that I downloaded the ost and I can't stop putting it on repeat. And here I am going to share my favourite song from the album with you guys.

The song's name is "Big" and while I agree that the name's weird, well the song is pretty amazing. Listen to it, and tell me what you think of it!
So that was it for today's post! Hope you enjoyed it!

Starting Anew!

Hello bookworms! Mel here!

It's been a looong while since the last time Neesa and I have blogged on here, and we are both truly sorry. But never fear! We are back! This time we are going to talk about a lot more of diversified stuff to make up for our months of absence and laziness. We have both read some books during this time so we'll talk about them little by little, and we'll also include recommendations, our favourite authors and genres... Everything to make our blog a little more lively!

We'll also both go to university in August so maybe our frequency will slow down but I promise you that we'll stay online as much as possible and talk bookish with you amazing people.

I also have a new blog on wordpress where I talk about books, animes, mangas, ships and fangirling so if you want you can check it out! (Mel's Blog)

So that is it for now. Again, we are terribly sorry for just letting our blog hang like a desperate person and we are working to change that. See you soon!

Mel
